When is it time for Hospice Care?

Hospice care provides a number of benefits for patients and their families, including pain management, emotional support, spiritual care, and counseling. Hospice care can also help patients and their families prepare for the end-of-life process and provide a sense of closure and peace.

If you or your loved one has been diagnosed with a terminal illness and has a life expectancy of six months or less, hospice care may be a good option. Hospice care can provide comfort, support, and pain management during the end-of-life process. It is important to talk to your doctor and hospice team to determine if hospice care is the right choice for you or your loved one.

Hospice care providers are typically trained and licensed healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and volunteers. Hospice care providers have specialized training in end-of-life care and work together to provide comprehensive care to patients and their families.

Before hospice services can begin, we must receive a referral. The referral process consists of assisting the patient and family in checking the patient's insurance for hospice service coverage. Hospice accepts Medicare, MediCal, and other private insurances. Once the Hospice representative updates the patient and their family of their insurance coverage the representative  will visit the patient within 48 hours. During the visit, the representative will go over information which includes the explanation of benefits (EOB) and the assessment and evaluation of the eligibility of the patient. If the patient is deemed eligible to receive hospice services, the hospice team will collaborate with the patient / family to create the appropriate care plan for the patient. 

We concentrate on managing the patient's pain so the patient can live life comfortably. Our Hospice services are provided wherever the patient may live.
